I went thru the Q course when Maj. Howard was the commander at Camp McCall for phase 1. He made me want to finish and do the right thing. R.I.P. You are the reason I made it thru 4 different conflicts. What a stud. AIRBORNE!!

It was an honor to serve my country in Vietnam with SOG/CCN and the likes of John Warren, Clyde Sincere, Klaus Bingham, Steve Roche, Jerry Shriver, Billy Waugh, and host of other unsung heros. But since 2 airplanes took down 3 buildings at WTC, and the gov't put a lid on talking about it...well, one wonders what we're REALLY fighting for these daze.

When tragedy or other events occur within our borders I think back and thank gentleman like yourself for setting the example that we all should reflect upon time and time again. Your worth was 100 times that of any professional athlete and forever you will be remembered for being the best of the best and always a proud American who helped to keeep us free. Thank you! May your will and guidance reach from the heavens to those in Arizona who did not die in vain rather in promoting a free and open democracy.

O that the younger generation would look to Bob Howard as a role model rather than sports figures, rock stars, and others who have NO CHARACTER. I served 25 years in the Navy and I am a Viet Nam Vet.

I am proud to acknowledge the patriotism and valor of all who serve.

I sit here as humbled as an American should feel after reading and hearing of the Colonel's accolades. I did 5 years active Navy in the early 80's and have been a reservist since then. I have done one tour in Iraq with a SeaBee Tactical Movement Team and leave in April2011 for another Middle Eastern Country. At NO time in my military career have I ever had the priviledge or honer to meet Colonel Howard nor has there ever been anyone of his stature in any command I've served... THAT is a true crime.

Too many current young military people lack true heroes in their life... what a shame more of them don't know or recognise the efforts and selflessness of someone like Colonel Howard.

I am honored to have served for the same country as he!

By the greatest love of GOD, I met Col. Howard in Culpeper, Virginia. He took it upon himself to travel here to dedicate a Viet Nam Memorial. He spoke with the tone that a decorated soldier would, very calm,so we would not miss a word. Thank you Sir for being the soldier that we would love to be, MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND MAY YOU REST IN PEACE.
