This is the one man I wanted to be most like when I grew up. He was always a hero! I had the privilege of serving with him as my commander in Charlie 1/75 and at the Mountain Ranger camp. No one has ever had more of an affect on me than this man. God rest your soul! Sir!

I live in Opelika Alabama, and it is a crying shame to so few Americans know who this man was and what he fought for. I personaly have met Mr. Howard and I can't think of a finer example of an American out there. Rest in Peace sir!

Thank you Bob for making my and my families life free. No words will ever express what true Americans owe you or any of our service men and women. My only regret is that I never had the chance to shake your hand and welcome you home. God bless this man and his family.

Colonel Howard's story is truly inspirational and his conduct in battle is the standard by which every soldier should be measured. When I was deployed to Iraq in 2003 I used examples such as his to instill a sense of honor and personal courage in my fellow soldiers as well as myself. He was a great American and a major asset to this country.
