I met Col. Howard in 2006 in Iraq and out of all the folks who came to visit us over there on USO tours, bronco cheerleaders, Toby Keith, Shinedown, chuck Norris, Col. Howard was the most inspiring.

An extraordinary man and soldier. A warrior who gave "his all" for his team and country. It hurts my heart that nothing was published in the media regarding his passing. God Speed Bob Howard.

Bob was the first sergent when I joined CCC in 69. He was a true leader and a fine gentleman. All of us tried to live up to his example.

I just showed a DVD to a classroom of high school students highlighting Medal of Honor winners. Being from AL the kids connected with Robert Howard. I was not the only person crying as it ended. Unhappy is the land that has no heroes! What an extraordinary life!
